By interacting with our stakeholders, it became clear that a more personalized and tailored approach would be appreciated following the Educational Program

In the past, we successfully supported data partners involved within the COVID-19 in MS Global Data Sharing Initiative with questions they had. In doing so, we have witnessed the impact of 1-on-1 interactions. Therefore, we will launch a MSDA Fellowship Program in 2023 in collaboration with EMSP, so we will focus on selecting a Fellow from the CEE/Balkan region this year.

Christos Bakirtzis

Meet our Fellow

Dr. Christos Bakirtzis MD, MSc, PhD

Dr Christos Bakirtzis is a neurologist. Ηe holds a master degree in Social Psychiatry from Democritus University of Thrace and a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He currently works in the Multiple Sclerosis Center of the second Dep. of Neurology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with clinical , teaching and research duties. His academic interests include neuropsychology, neuroimaging and neuroimmunology. He has participated in numerous clinical trials and published more than 70 articles in the field of multiple sclerosis.

I'm especially thrilled that for 2023 the Fellowship Program will be focusing on Central Eastern Europe and Balkans, the region with larger disparities in access to care and also with a large number of countries that still are not able to collect even the real-world evidence because of the lack of registries. Also the situation now with the war in Ukraine is stressing the need for education, because Healthcare Systems are even more under pressure with people leaving their country while they have specific needs.
